I have been practicing mindfulness & meditation since 2003 and have more than 18 years of experience as a school teacher. I am a mom to an amazing 8-year-old daughter. When my daughter was first born, I was surprised parenting wasn’t as easy as I expected it to be. I had taught children for years, so shouldn’t this be second nature? While I could be calm and collected in the classroom, I found when my little one was having big feelings, it touched on my reactivity. Sometimes I responded in ways that caused even bigger reactions in my child.

My practice of daily mindfulness and meditation helps me to cultivate greater stability within. The amazing tools,  strategies, and communication techniques in Hunter Clarke-Fields’ Mindful Parenting program have helped me to find new ways to deal with challenging parenting moments. In the Mindful Parenting course, I learned to talk in a way that my child can listen and feel understood. We still have our moments but overall we have a close bond and there is more cooperation in our relationship.
